COR News

Thank You, Rick Clark!

There are few people who have affected the Center for Object Relations (COR) community as much as Rick Clark. Although not in the mental health field, and usually behind-the-scenes, Rick has been a vital member of COR since 2005 when he edited his first issue of CORRelations. His knowledge of writing and his feel for voice have helped COR members express their experiences, explorations, and ideas to fellow members in our newsletter for fifteen years. While I am saddened by his retirement as editor, I am entirely grateful to him for his time in the position.

Along with editing CORRelations, Rick has been writing and publishing his own work. He published two books: Journey to the River: India Travels, and Bug- eyed & Bird-brained: Small Creature Haiku, and published articles in a number of magazines and journals. He also won Grand Prize in the Non-Japanese (International) Division of the 6th Annual Yamadera Basho Memorial Museum Haiku Contest in Japan.

Rick was involved with two films, writing for both and producing one, and he has been a professor for over two decades, including teaching at Seattle Central College. He is a student of the violin and of yoga and he loves birds and the wilderness. He is a Vietnam veteran. He and his wife, Seattle yoga instructor Fran Gallo, facilitate yoga and writing retreats on the Washington Coast. His writings can be appreciated any time at Wrenzai Insight Journal, his blog, at wrenzai.wordpress.com.

Rick’s contribution to COR has been immense. He was the soul of CORRelations and has been exceedingly generous with his time during the transition to our new editor. His expertise shows throughout each past issue of the newsletter. He has been a delight to work with, and his presence and voice will be missed at COR. On behalf of all those who have been involved with COR, I want to thank Rick for his many years of service and wish him the best of luck on his next endeavors. (I hear there may be another book coming soon.) I am confident Rick’s spirit will continue to be felt at COR for many years to come.

New Website!

Center for Object Relations is excited to announce a new, redesigned website: www.centerforobjectrelations.org!

The new site makes it easier to access our courses and seminars. You can view current courses and events in list view or calendar view, and class readings will be available if you are logged into your account. And CEU quizzes and certificates will continue to be available online, more easily accessible now.

Scholarship requests, contact with committee chairs, and other emails will be easier to complete through the website, and our Member Directory has changed so that each member will be able to add and edit their own information. It’s searchable by location, specialty, populations, supervisor capacity, and zip code. And the directory allows you to upload a photo if you so desire.

We’ll be adding other features too: The history of British Object Relations, explanation of concepts, an in-depth history of the Center for Object Relations, and back issues of CORRelations will have an online version that will be searchable, going forward, with more digital-only content. And recordings of some seminars will be accessible if you are logged into your account and have paid for the course.

When you have a moment, jump over to the new website, and please update your browser to the new webpage. And if you are a COR Member, please register in our online directory even if you’ve been previously listed in our directory. You will want to complete a new listing.

As always, with any change there is the possibility of technical issues. If you have any difficulty logging into your account, registering for the directory, or any other related issue, please contact Office Administrator Tyler Hanson at the new office email address: office@centerforobjectrelations.org and/or Website Manager, Chris Moseman: websitemanager@centerforobjectrelations.org.
